Prisons department: Wassan wants encroached lands to be cleared

Minister says he was also collecting information from other sources, wants to vacate and secure the valuable property.

 The provincial minister for prisons, inquiries, anti-corruption and mines and minerals, Manzoor Hussain Wassan, has taken notice of the illegal occupation and sale of prison department’s land and directed the prisons IG to submit a detailed report.


He warned the relevant officers to file accurate figures regarding prison property otherwise disciplinary action would be taken against them.

The minister said that he was also collecting the information from other sources and wanted to vacate and secure the valuable property belonging to the prison department which could be utilised for residential colonies and offices for jail department. Wassan directed jail superintendents to prepare feasibility reports in consultation with engineers regarding the repairs of quarters and residential colonies of prison employees so that proper maintenance could be carried out without delay.
