Gas pipeline: Members see progress on project

Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources attended the meeting as head of the Pakistan delegation.

ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan and Turkmenistan have expressed satisfaction over progress on the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project and reaffirmed their commitment for its timely completion. Both countries met at a meeting of the steering committee of the TAPI, which was held recently at Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, along with delegations from the other two countries, says a press release issued here on Thursday. Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal Khan attended the meeting as head of the Pakistan delegation. Both the sides discussed a number of issues related to the enhancement of bilateral relations with special focus on the implementation of TAPI gas Pipelines Project. They expressed satisfaction on the current state of the project and hoped that its implementation will help Pakistan and other buyers in meeting their energy requirements and will lead to the economic development of the region.
