Court ruling: CID men get bail for UTP escape

Four police officials, who were arrested for their negligence, were also released on bail

KARACHI:
Two inspectors of the Crime Investigation Department were granted bail on Wednesday in a case pertaining to the escape of two alleged members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan from the city courts on July 13. Hameedullah Nizai and Islam Gul were granted bail against a surety of Rs30,000 each. The judicial magistrate, however, extended by two days the remand of four other policemen arrested along with Niazi and Gul. Meanwhile, a district and sessions court sent an under-trial prisoner, Sajjad, who managed to escape from city courts but was rearrested, to jail on judicial remand till July 25. Four police officials, who were arrested for their negligence, were also presented before the court and were released on bail against a surety of Rs20,000 each.
