Illegal detention: Court summons assistant political agent
Samiullah Afridi, counsels for both the petitioners, contended the high court has already passed release orders.
PESHAWAR:
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has summoned the assistant political agent of Bara tehsil to appear before the court for allegedly disobeying court orders in releasing two detained tribesmen.
Relatives of Mian Khan and Pir Muhammad had filed cases against the political administration for taking the two tribesmen in illegal custody during the military operation in 2009.
Samiullah Afridi, counsels for both the petitioners, contended the high court has already passed release orders for his clients but the political administration remains reluctant in complying with court orders and has so far failed to do so.
The court then summoned the assistant political agent to appear along with the two detainees and also served notices against the federal defence and interior ministries for allegedly keeping people in illegal custody in another 18 habeas corpus petitions.
