Dangerous living: Four swept away by water

ISLAMABAD:
Four people were swept away by water in separate incidents on Monday.
Ali and Owais, both residents of Chaklala, drowned while bathing in Korang Nullah in the Nilore area. A police official said that local people informed the police soon after the incident happened.
A police team along with Rescue 1122 personnel rushed to the spot and fished out Ali’s body. Later, navy divers found Owais’s body.
In a separate mishap, a Najma and her son Hassan were swept away by gushing water after they slipped from a causeway and fell into a stream in Bani Gala.
The police were able to recover the bodies. A police official said that warning signs have been installed along the causeway, but the victims ignored them.
“Bridges are the ultimate solution to the problem,” Deputy Commissioner Amir Ali Ahmed said, while explaining that the city administration plans to build 57 small bridges on streams in Islamabad, for which the PC-II has already been approved.
