Natural resources: K-P working to establish oil refinery
The proposed refinery would be the first in the province.
PESHAWAR:
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak has directed the provincial Energy and Power Department and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) to expedite work on establishing an oil refinery in K-P, according to an official statement issued on Monday.
While chairing a meeting with officials of the respective departments, CM Khattak said K-P is replete with natural resources including oil and gas reserves and the government would make efforts to exploit these for the province’s development.
Khattak also directed a team comprising elected representatives and PSO’s technical staff to visit proposed sites for the refinery project and submit its report at the earliest. The proposed refinery would be the first in the province and would have the capacity to refine 40,000 barrels of oil per day.
