Tariq records back-to-back wins

KARACHI:
Pakistan cueist Amir Tariq beat Singapore’s Wei Cong Terence Tham 4-0 at the IBSF World U21 Snooker Championship underway in Beijing yesterday.

Tariq, who had earlier defeated India’s Rahul Ajay Sachdev 4-1, registered his second successive win.

He began the match with confidence, taking the opening two frames with ease 91-10, 116-8. He faced some resistance from Tham in the third frame, but he managed to win 67-33 and sealed victory in the fourth frame 97-24.


His teammate Mohsin Amin failed to overcome UAE’s Badr Obaid Almehairi, losing 4-2. Pakistan’s young gun Humza Akbar was outplayed by China’s Wang Zepeng 4-3. However, the cueist hit back to beat Austria’s Markus Pfistermüller 4-0 in his second match of the day. Majid Ali lost his first match in the championship, going down to Hong Kong’s Nansen Sin Man Wan 4-2.
