LAHORE:
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered an inquiry into the increase in the cost of construction of the Nandipur Power Power on Sunday.

The Prime Minister directed Federal Secretary Planning Division to submit a report within three days, according to an official handout.

The directives of Nawaz stated that all dimensions of the matter be taken into account and the report be submitted after thorough scrutiny.

The Prime Minister who is currently in Lahore issued the directive following media reports pointing towards an increase in the cost of the project from $329 million to $570 million.

The reports questioned the increase and claimed that the additional funds would go to a certain private sector company, implying that it was part of a scam.

The Water and Power ministry countered this by stating that the revised cost estimation was owing to a change in price of individual items.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif called on Nawaz at Jati Umra where it was decided that the Planning Division will be called to resolve the matter.
