Lyari law and order: Interior secretary, IB chief briefed
officials briefed the visitors on the existing law and order situation of Lyari.

On the instruction of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Interior Secretary Qamar Zaman Chaudhry and Intelligence Bureau Director General Aftab Sultan paid a brief visit to Lyari in Karachi. The director general rangers, Sindh inspector general police, Additional Chief Secretary Home Muhammad Waseem and other officials briefed the visitors on the existing law and order situation of Lyari and on the migration of Lyari’s Kachi community to interior Sindh. According to sources, the federal home secretary was informed that the Sindh government was taking measures to restore peace in the area. The officials told the home secretary that the migration was a result of the attacks on the community which started after the general election 2013. They said the law enforces were facing difficulties to clear certain no-go areas, where criminal elements had their strongholds. However, they assured that Sindh government was taking all steps to ensure the security of Lyari residents.
