PESHAWAR:

Badhaber police arrested 64 people in a crackdown against anti-social elements in Kaga Wala, Bazid Khel and Suliman Khel villages on Saturday.

The operation which started around 9am continued till noon during which several houses of proclaimed offenders were raided and the accused arrested.

An official of the Badhaber police station said the rate of petty crimes go up every Ramazan which is why they decided to launch a crackdown against proclaimed offenders.

He said arms and drugs were also recovered from several houses and at least 10 of those arrested are proclaimed offenders.

“There is no militant or terrorist among them,” the official explained, adding Suliman Khel is a militant-affected area where, in recent years, several girls’ schools have been blown up and activists of peace committees killed in targeted attacks.
