BAHAWALPUR:

Two sisters were beaten up allegedly by a landlord and his three sons in Uch Sharif on Friday night.

Zareena Mai, one of the sisters, told the media on Saturday that she and her sister, Rubina Mai, were beaten up by Ghulam Fareed and his three sons.

“My goats went into his [the landlord’s] vegetable fields and were grazing…the landlord found out and took me to his dera and cut my hair.”

“My sister came after me to the dera… His sons thrashed both of us,” she said. She said the neighbours rescued them and took them to the Uch Sharif tehsil headquarters hospital.Investigation Officer Abdul Majeed told The Express Tribune, “We have registered an FIR on the complaint of Zareena Mai against Ghulam Fareed and his sons, Bashir Ahmad, Nazir Ahmad and Saeed Ahmad.” He said Bashir Ahmad had been arrested and police would “soon get hold of others.” Majeed said the women had been discharged from the hospital.
