LAHORE:

A consumer court on Friday issued a notice to a shop owner by September 16 on a suit seeking Rs115,000 damages allegedly for selling a defective refrigerator.

Petitioner Aslam Shahid said he had purchased a refrigerator from New Rafi Electronics at Temple Road for Rs29,000 on June 15, 2010. The respondent had given him a three year warranty on the refrigerator that included replacement of the refrigerator’s compressor with a new one if it malfunctioned. He said the compressor stopped working soon after he bought the refrigerator. Shahid said the respondent refused to replace the refrigerator with a new one when he contacted him. He prayed the court to direct the respondent to pay Rs100,000 for stress and Rs15,000 counsel fee. The respondent did not take a call from The Express Tribune.
