Youth: Adolescent strategy launched
The minister emphasised the need to focus on the youth to develop their abilities and capabilities.
LAHORE:
Minister for Education and Youth Affairs Rana Mashhood on Friday launched the Punjab Adolescent Strategy and Strategic Plan 2013-17.
Mashood said children between nine to 19 years of age constituted a significant part of Pakistan’s population.
He said the issues and challenges they faced required that they be treated as a distinct segment of the population with specific developmental needs.
He said this age group had been classified into three categories; early adolescents from nine to 13 years of age; middle adolescents from 14 to 16 years of age; and late adolescents from 17 to 19 years of age. He said the three categories needed separate strategies for protection of their rights.
The minister emphasised the need to focus on the youth to develop their abilities and capabilities.
