Everyone responsible for poor service delivery in Pakistan Railways shall be booked, Minister for Pakistan Railways Khwaja Saad Rafique said after taking notice of the poor performance of Jaffer Express.
According to an official release, the minister said that "customer promise" was part of the inherent agenda of governance in the public sector.
During the inspection, Rafique was displeased at the quality of food in the dining car available to passengers during their journey.
The minister showed his sheer disapproval of the level of cleanliness maintained by the administration inside the train.
The train manager told Rafique that the contractor was earning as much as Rs30 million out of which Pakistan Railways was getting just Rs2.2 million per year, according to the inquiry report.
After observing the poor performance of the contractor , the deal with Kabir and Company was cancelled on being found guilty in violation of clause 24 of the agreement between the two parties, which stated that Pakistan Railways was empowered to not only terminate the contract straight away, but to forfeit the security money as well.
Kabir & Co. was looking after all four rakes of Jaffer Express under the agreement.
Rafique was disappointed with the dismal conditions in Jaffar Express, and had ordered an immediate inquiry in the matter and deprived the contractor of his contract, in addition to forfeiture of security money amounting to Rs250,000.
