Terror bid thwarted: High-intensity bomb defused
Around 20 kilogrammes of explosives were used.
HANGU:
A high-intensity bomb was defused by the bomb disposal squad (BDS) in Shahu Waam, Hangu district on Tuesday.
BDS Hangu district in-charge Asadullah said he was informed by security forces and police at around 4pm of a suspicious gunny bag spotted in the area. As a result, Asadullah and other BDS officials reached the site while police and security forces cordoned off the area. Asadullah added the gunny bag carried a cannister full of explosives and shrapnel planted by unidentified militants to target vehicles of security forces and police who patrol the area in the evening.
Around 20 kilogrammes of explosives were used in the device which was successfully defused. A case was filed against unidentified militants while the police searched the area after which it was opened for traffic.
