IPC minister backs newly elected POA
We have full support, says President Sahi.
KARACHI:
Inter Provincial Coordination minister Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada has assured full support to the newly elected Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) office bearers and has dismissed the notion that he is unhappy over the formation of a parallel body.
The official met POA President Akram Sahi, who is also president of the Athletics Federation of Pakistan, at his office and backed his association to do well in their bid to promote sports in Pakistan.
“Pirzada has promised that he and the government of Pakistan will back the newly formed POA body,” Sahi told The Express Tribune.
“He’s made it clear that he isn’t against us or unhappy with the new elections of the POA. There are people who are trying to misguide the public, but we stand by together with each other.”
Pirzada also directed the Arif Hasan-led POA to vacate the office in Lahore and hand it over to the newly elected body with immediate effect so that new POA can start their operations as soon as possible.
