Plea Against Musharraf’s Bail: Justice Chaudhry recuses himself
The Registrar Office had put up the plea before a three-judge bench, headed by Justice Chaudhry.
ISLAMABAD:
Chief Justice Chaudhry Iftikhar on Monday refused to hear a plea against the post-arrest bail granted to former military ruler Pervez Musharraf by the Islamabad High Court in the judges’ detention case.
“I shall not hear the plea for cancelling the bail granted by the high court to Musharraf and the appeal filed by advocate Aslam Ghuman should be listed before another bench of the Supreme Court,” Justice Chaudhry remarked.
The Registrar Office had put up the plea before a three-judge bench, headed by Justice Chaudhry and also comprising Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed.
Citing Musharraf as respondent, advocate Ghuman had challenged the June 11, 2013 judgment of the IHC that allowed post-arrest bail to Musharraf and deleted terrorism charges from the case.
