Petroleum Price Hike: Minister refuses to raise railway fares

The federal minister said the decision has been taken for poor who use railways to travel across the country.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique announced that no increase in fares or ticket charges would be made despite the latest increase in petroleum prices.The federal minister said the decision has been taken for poor who use railways to travel across the country. A press release issued by the ministry here on Friday stated this extra burden would be re-compensated by different sectors of the railway department itself. Federal minister also fired the project director Muhammad Yousaf special locomotive 150 Repair from this post and he has appointed Captain Abdul Majeed there. There was no reason given for this move.
