Farid Khan was elected as MPA from PK-42 in the general elections as an independent candidate.

HANGU:
Shah Faisal, brother of the slain provincial assembly member Farid Khan, submitted his papers on Friday for the by-election in PK-42 Hangu constituency. A jirga of the Sunni Supreme Council was called in Hangu where the elders decided and then convinced Shah Faisal to contest elections from the constituency with the support of the locals. Farid Khan was elected as MPA from PK-42 in the general elections as an independent candidate. However, for the purpose of serving his area he joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) days before his death on June 3 when unidentified militants ambushed his car. Khan’s driver was also killed in the attack while his brother was injured. Meanwhile, former MPA Atiqur Rahman accused of killing Khan obtained bail before arrest from a court in Kohat till July 11. Khan’s relatives have filed a complaint with police claiming Atiq, his brother Shafiqur Rahman and uncle Noor Rahman were behind Khan’s murder.
