MIRANSHAH:

At least four security personnel were seriously injured when a man rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a security check post in Datta Khel tehsil of North Waziristan Agency on Thursday.

The attack occurred around 1:30pm, said an official of the security forces.

Providing details, he said a car was approaching the Boya check post when a security official posted on duty ahead of the check post signalled the driver to stop. However, the driver accelerated further following which the security personnel opened fire at the vehicle, injuring him in the process.

He subsequently lost control of the car and rammed into the barricaded wall of the check post. This detonated the explosives, resulting in the death of the suicide bomber and injuries to four soldiers.

Following the explosion, officials cordoned off the area and shifted the injured to a hospital in Miramshah, the agency’s headquarters. This led to a massive traffic jam near the post with hundreds of vehicles stranded. According to the security official, the driver was aiming to blow up the explosives at the entrance of the check post.
