Crystal smuggling: Verdict on bail application reserved
Maya Fakhri was arrested at the Karachi airport for smuggling two packets of crystals on June 14.
KARACHI:
The court has reserved its verdict on Thursday on a bail application filed by a Pakistan International Airlines flight attendant in a crystal smuggling case. Maya Fakhri was arrested at the final search counter at the Jinnah International Airport after the authorities found two packets containing 320 grammes of crystals on June 14. A case, No. 26/13, under sections 6, 9 (b) of the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, was registered at the ANF police station. Tasneem Sultana, the in-charge judge of the CNS court, reserved the verdict after hearing arguments from both sides. Confessing that she was involved, Fakhri told the police that she met Khattak at a hotel in Islamabad who lured her into the business of smuggling. She was asked to deliver two packets of crystals to Saudi Arabia for Rs50,000, she said. Adjourning the hearing till July 6, the court supplied copies of the charge sheet and other documents to Fakhri.
