First foreign tour: Nawaz lands in Beijing for 5-day tour

Pakistani and Chinese premiers to meet again in less than two months.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif landed in Beijing for a five-day visit on Wednesday.


The premier and the first lady were accorded a warm welcome by Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Zhai Jun. Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khalid and senior diplomats of Pakistan Embassy and officials from Chinese government were also present on the occasion.


A smartly dressed contingent of the three services of People’s Liberation Army presented salute to Prime Minister Nawaz who was accompanied by First Lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, adviser on foreign affairs Tariq Fatimi and Balochistan chief minister Dr Abdul Malik.

The prime minister is undertaking a 5-day visit at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiaang.

The significant feature of the Prime Minister Nawaz’s visit is that, both the prime ministers will hold meeting within a span of less than two months. Earlier, Chief Minister Punjab Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif also arrived to join Prime Minister’s delegation.
