Ensuring transparency: Complaint cell set up to eliminate corruption
Minister promises end to recruitment on political grounds.

In a possible bid to realise its claim of eliminating corruption in 90 days, the provincial government has established a complaint cell to address grievances of people and ensure transparency.
Introducing the project at the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Public Health and Engineering Shah Farman said the complaint cell will register complaints online via email, fax and telephone.
“We want to hold people directly accountable which will bring transparency and fairness in all departments,” said the provincial minister who was flanked by K-P Secretary Public Health Jamil Ahmad and other officials.
“Corruption is our biggest challenge and the practice can only be eliminated by a stern monitoring system,” added Farman. He assured there will be no postings and transfers on political grounds, maintaining the government will follow a strict merit policy in hiring.
People can now register complaints by dialing 091-9214213, via fax at 091-9211407, or email complaintphed@gmail.com. The numbers will be supervised by the relevant department’s deputy secretary (technical).
Farman added the government will soon introduce the Access to Information Act which would allow access of government documents and other relevant information to the public.
