KARACHI: In a bid to promote the sport, the Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP) is planning to establish a club system in the country before the end of the year.

According to a SFP official Asif Azeem, the federation intends on inviting private sponsors to bid for clubs that can participate in a national league.

“We want to establish clubs and run it on a league-based format,” Azeem told The Express Tribune. “It’s high time because we’re already working with different schools that have included softball in their sports activities. The next step for us is to establish the national league.”

Azeem added that the idea behind setting up clubs was to scout young and talented players.

“Softball is popular in a lot of schools so we want to make sure that good players from these institutions continue pursuing the sport.”
