Maternal And Child Health: US envoy initiates health programme
The ambassador cited this to be another landmark in the health sector.
KARACHI:
US Ambassador Richard Olson has reiterated his country’s commitment to build bridges with the people of Pakistan while addressing the launching ceremony of a US $387 million Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Programme for Sindh.
The programme, he said, shall mainly cater to the maternal health needs of women under 30. “It is focused to reduce maternal and infant mortality – averting 4,000 maternal deaths and reducing infant mortality by 13 percent,” he said.
The ambassador cited this to be another landmark in the health sector and mentioned that the programme continues a five decade old tradition of US support to Pakistan in building and improving a quality healthcare system.
