Education: OGDCL to finance female hostel at QAU
QAU Vice Chancellor says OGDCL values the linkage of industry and academia.
ISLAMABAD:
The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) will fund the construction of a female hostel for 300 students of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU).
An MoU was signed on Saturday by the QAU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Masoom Yasinzai and OGDCL Managing Director Masood Siddiqui. Yasinzai lauded the OGDCL and urged the corporate sector to come forward and support premier institutions. “I appreciate OGDCL’s generous donation and hope that this gesture will serve as a signal to other corporations to invest in educational institutions”, he said.
He further said that donor support is crucial for public sector universities as philanthropic assistance would help increase awareness for funding higher education in Pakistan. While addressing the ceremony, Siddiqui congratulated the university as it has been recently ranked among the top 200 universities of Asia.
He said OGDCL values the linkage of industry and academia, saying it helps in developing a knowledge based economy.
