KARACHI: Condemning the killing of its worker on Friday, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) criticised the law-enforcement agencies and called them silent spectators to the violence taking place in the city.

The party’s Rabita Committee said that terrorists were targeting their men on a daily basis but the authorities responsible for law and order had given them a free hand and were not taking any action against them.

They said that it was unfortunate that while cases of extortion, kidnapping and murder were on the rise, the law-enforcement agencies were not taking any action against the criminals.

Tariq Mustafa, an MQM activist, was gunned down in Surjani Town where he had gone for some personal work.

He was shot in the chest, head and neck, and was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died.

MQM chief Altaf Hussain also condemned the killing and gave his condolences to the family.
