QUETTA:

At least two people were killed in a blast in Killi Kutair, an area in Kuchlak, some 25 kms away from Quetta on Thursday.

The bomb was planted near a mosque’s wall, which blew up with a huge bang, killing two persons on the spot and injuring one. “The blast damaged the nearby mosque. It was so intensive that it scattered the body parts of the victims far and wide,” sources said.

The security forces rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area shortly after the incident. They shifted the deceased and injured to Civil Hospital Quetta.

One of the deceased was identified as Lal Khan and the injured man as Mohamamd Ameen.

Talking to reporters, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Kuchlak Mohammad Notazai termed the explosion a suicide hit, adding that the attacker was trying to move to the target but before he could do so, the explosives strapped on his body went off.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Investigation Fyaiz Sumnbel said that police are investigating the matter to determine whether it was a planted bomb or a suicide attack.

According to the bomb disposal squad, explosives weighing approximately 7 to 8kg were used in the blast.

The police launched an investigation into the incident and registered a case against unidentified culprits.
