SSC results: Top three positions shared by six students

ISLAMABAD:


Over 77 per cent students on Thursday cleared the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Part-II examination of Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), with girls once again outshining boys in the overall results.


According to the result, announced at the FBISE headquarters with the State Minister for Education and Training Balighur Rehman as chief guest, 51,833 candidates appeared as regular students out of which 46,543 candidates were declared to have passed.

Similarly, of the 17,303 private and former students who appeared in the examinations, 7,154 were declared successful with a passing percentage of 41.35 per cent.



The examination result this time around was unique as in the science group, the top three positions were tied between six students, or two each, with equal marks.

Abdul Masay Ikhlaq from Wah Cantt clinched the first slot by securing 1,026 marks, out of a total of 1050, with Rehmeen Zahid from Rangers Public School Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, sharing the slot with him with the same score. Similarly, for the second position, Muhammad Umar Arshad of Army Public School and College for Boys, Ordinance Road, Rawalpindi Cantt got 1,025 marks with Noor Khalid of Army Public School and College Hamayun Road, Rawalpindi Cantt tied to the position with the same marks.

For the third position, Sana Riaz of Fazaia Inter College, Chaklala, Rawalpindi and Tooba Anwaar of Army Public School and College, Kohat Cantt got 1,024 marks respectively and shared the third position.




The minister congratulated the successful students and vowed to change the pattern and mechanism of paper modification and preparation in order to allow students to think conceptually.

Humanities group

In the humanities group, Muhammad Umair, a student of the Institute of Islamic Sciences Satra Meel Islamabad scored 938 marks and came first in the group while Ubaid Riaz, of the same school,  clinched 926 marks for the second position.

For third place, Shareen Shafi of Al-Amaal English High School in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, got 924 marks.

More students passed in the Sciences group than in Humanities.

According to the FBISE website, 26 grievance cases were reported this year out of which 20 have been decided and investigation of the rest is underway. The examinations for SSC part II commenced on March 19 and concluded in April 2013. The result cards of regular and private candidates from Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) are being sent to the FBISE’s sub-office in G-B.

The result is also available on FBISE’s website www.fbise.edu.pk <https://www.fbise.edu.pk> and can be ascertained via an SMS to 5050, in the format FB<space>[roll number].
