Austerity measures: Minister bans transfers, postings

The agriculture department has imposed a ban on transfers and postings, according to Sindh agriculture minister Sardar Ali Nawaz Khan Mahar, who has ordered a repatriation of officers working on different posts in their own payscale and to withdraw deputation orders.
Mahar directed that promotion cases should be reviewed as many employees and officers are awaiting promotion for a while.
He asked the officials in this department to return extra vehicles and to ensure that expenditures are reduced by at least 30 per cent.
The minister discussed the reactivation of tractor scheme for the benefit of crop growers and to ensure that certified seeds are provided.
