An office of the inspector general of police, prisons, was attacked on Saturday evening when men on motorcycles lobbed explosives material at the Central Jail in Karachi.
According to initial investigations, at least six culprits threw two low intensity explosives material within the jail premises from outside the main entrance. Security officials retaliated by opening fire at them but the attackers escaped from the scene. IG Prisons Nusrat Mangan told The Express Tribune that this could be a warning by terrorists who have sent threats to the jail before as a number of their associates are imprisoned in the jail.
“One explosion took place near my office and the other one at the residential Colony of the jail,” Mangan explained.
There were reports that four people, including two policemen, were injured. However, Mangan said no one was injured in the attack.
