Lyari operation: 20 gang war suspects arrested

KARACHI:
At least 20 gang war ‘suspects’ were arrested in a raid conducted by Rangers, including a prime suspect in the murder of gangster Arshad Pappu, in Lyari’s area of Sangoleen, reported Express News on Friday.

Ali Bakkar, one of the prime suspects in the murder of gangster Arshad Pappu, was also allegedly involved in the kidnapping prior to the murder of Arshad Pappu.

Officials seized hand grenades, drugs and other weapons from the suspects’ possession. The suspects were also shown on television with bags covering their faces.


Police recovered the bodies of gangster Arshad Pappu and his brother Arfat in the Lyari area of Karachi on March 17.

Pappu, as he is commonly known, was one of the key players in the Lyari gang wars.

He was arrested in 2006 but was released on bail in the 60-something cases against him last year.
