HYDERABAD:

The Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, has clarified that the university was not responsible for the state of affairs at the Hyderabad Civil Hospital. The deputy registrar of LUMHS, Dr Saroop Bhatia, in a clarification issued on Wednesday said that the administrative and financial responsibilities of the hospital rest with the Sindh Health Department.

The hospital is going through a period of administrative and financial crisis. The situation has been triggered by a tug of war between the two medical superintendents, Dr Khalid Qureshi and Dr Kazim Raza Shah, who both are vying for the MS positions.

The recurrent staff protests and boycott of the OPD has exacerbated the problems. The secretary health Inamullah Dharejo is also conducting inquiry of the corruption and embezzlement charges. He said that it is the Sindh government’s onus to address the prevailing issues.
