ISLAMABAD: The Interior ministry had extended the expiration date of old passports by issuing them with stamps instead of using lamination papers, a method that is now being rejected by foreign embassies, Express News reported.

The decision has left the affected people with no choice but to apply for a new passport once again.
The delay in the renewal and issuance of passports because of the shortage of lamination papers has created problems for people looking to travel to other countries.
The decision of issuing old passports with stamps instead of having them laminated is being attributed to former interior minister Rehman Malik.

These stamped extension are not normal that swhy embassies are rejecting it.

The answer is in the question itself. How likely is it that the country that cannot even maufacture laminated paper actually developed nuclear technology? (Some other facts you may want to consider: >60% Pakistan's exports are textile related and further 30% are food products. No manufacturing exports worth the name and this is the country that claims it developed nuclear technology? Not any more than North Korea developed it on its own
The best short term solution is to stamp the passport with extension of 2 years and then start printing new ones. Wake up Ministry.

@Pakistani: It is a telling sign, that someone called Pakistani calls it a new low cause he cannot travel abroad, cause he has no electricity for his ac and tv and cause Pakistan lost a cricket match.
He feels proud about Bin Laden found hiding in a cantonment, salala attack, attack on naval air base, 50,000 civilians and soldiers killed by terrorists, and yesterday's attack which killed over 20 female students and nurses.

Rehman Malik strikes from the great beyond!
FIA should book Rehman Malik, former DG Passports and other concerned officials including the former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf who have deliberately misused their authorities and committed crime by utilizing the money of passport depositors some where else.
It was a wiful and criminal neglegence of the concerned officers and staff who could not ascertain the timely requirement of passport lamination paper and other shortfall of the material, due to which the process of issuing the passports were delayed.
Urgent passports were returned to the applicants after two months, whereas ordinary passports were issued after 6 months from the date of submission of application and passport fee.
Rehman Malik was an illiterate former Interior Minister who without consulting with the foreign embassies issued instructions to put the renewal stamp on the expired passports.
Heavy penalties should be imposed to all of the above named people you have created so much agony and pain to the citizens of Pakistan.
Arrived at Peshawar International on Friday with a hand written passport and the guy at immigration counter said "You are wasting my time with manual passport. Why didn't you make a machine readable?"

Extension is the only way out given the constraints and the backlog. I have done the same and it worked for me. The reason why foreign embassies are asking lamination now is that pakistan is a nation of cheats, and world has realized it the hard way. Other nations are now unwilling to do any favor anymore. We need to change our national character.

Rehman Malik was incompetent and corrupt to the core, he was brought in because of Zardari, Zardari wanted some one like himself. Perhaps the defense outfit should jump in to manufacture this paper, they are already involve in all sort of business including Roti business. In ET previous news, These former parties have used millions for better snap shots and Ads. While on the other hand same time we had known shortage of lamination papers for passports.
