KU scientist assists 50 PhD scholars

Dr Choudhary is the youngest scientist in Pakistan to receive national and international honours and awards.

KARACHI: As many as 50 scientists have completed their PhD degree courses under the supervision of Karachi University Director International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary. At the University of Karachi, Dr Iqbal Choudhary is second only to former chairman of the Higher Education Commission, Prof Dr Atta-ur-Rahman, for supervising the greatest number of PhDs. Dr Ghulam Abbas was the last scholar to complete his PhD at ICCBS with Dr Iqbal Choudhary.

Dr Choudhary is the youngest scientist in Pakistan to receive national and international honours and awards. He has over 600 research publications in international journals, 20 national and international patents and has authored 24 books. Dr Choudhary has been the most cited scientist from Pakistan for the past ten years with over 3,500 citations.

The government of Pakistan awarded the scientist Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his efforts in the fields of science and technology.
