PESHAWAR:
CNG stations across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) suspended supply of gas on Saturday due to a technical fault in the main supply line.
“CNG stations will remain closed till 6am today (Sunday) due to a technical fault in the main gas pipeline,” said the local chairman of the All Pakistan CNG Association, Pervez Khattak.
Long queues of vehicles were seen waiting for the resumption of gas supply at filling stations, whereas transporters who had enough gas in their vehicles turned the situation to their favour by fleecing commuters with higher fares.
On Ring Road, Suzuki van drivers were charging Rs10 from commuters instead of the normal fare of Rs5 per stop, while on University Road there were hardly any public transport buses and wagons available.
“I couldn’t catch a bus, rickshaw or taxi though I was ready to pay thrice as much. After waiting for more than an hour at Saddar Stadium I had to walk home,” said resident Taimur Khan.
