HYDERABAD:
With the pre-monsoon currents from Arabian Sea approaching most parts of the country, the Pakistan Meteorological Department anticipates light and moderate rainfall with gusty winds in most cities and towns of Upper Sindh during the next 24 hours. Light to heavy rains were experienced in several districts of the province on Wednesday. The heavy but sporadic showers, preceded by a dust storm, started at around 3pm in parts of Benazirabad, Badin, Jamshoro and Sanghar. Later, parts of Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas and Tando Allahyar also received light rains. In Hyderabad, winds blowing at 34 knots from the northern direction resulted in a sandstorm. In Sehwan, rainwater mixed with sewage entered the low-lying shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, forcing the devotees to vacate the submerged parts of the shrine. Rain and strong winds also lashed the coastal parts of Badin district.
