There is no serious threat of a ‘huge flood’, said Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Syed Zaheerul Islam on his visit to River Kabul and the adjoining villages of Tharkha, Jumat and Garhi Mohkam Shah on Wednesday.
Accompanying him, Peshawar Commissioner Sahibzada Muhammad Anees directed the irrigation department to build embankments where necessary.
Meanwhile, senior minister Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao directed authorities to remain vigilant and take precautionary steps for the expected flood.
The directives were issued to the Malakand commissioner and deputy commissioners of Charsadda and Nowshera as well as the irrigation department secretary.
