LAHORE:

A six-year old boy drowned in the Canal on Monday.

Farhan Ali, a student of grade one, had come to Lahore from Faisalabad with his family to spend his summer vacation.

The family went for a picnic near the FC College underpass on Monday. Ali went to play with other children next to the Canal. He accidently fell into the canal and drowned.

Arif Alvi, the boy’s father, told The Express Tribune that the picnic had been Ali’s idea, “We didn’t want to go out in the blistering heat but Ali was so enthusiastic about it that we gave in.”

A water rescue team looked for Ali but could not find the body and had to stop when the sun set. Ichhra police registered a report of the incident.

bathing in Lahore canal must be banned immediately and to use the canal for Marine transport from Jallo to Thokar Niaz Baig should be implemented. There two main disadvantages of swimming in the canal.. one it is risky for general public and two the water is very hazardous and can leader further sickness to put extra burden on health sector.

and no one dared to jumped when the ill fate Ali fell down in water... ? How sad is this. I have asked CM on Twitter very long back for adequate picnic and leisure facilities for general public including water parks. There is only one or probably two water park for Lahore residents.. if water park can not be built at least built swimming pools on hugely available land through the city which public can use with Nominal fee.
