Dr Aafia's brother appeals against her sentence

Interior minister, Rehman Malik said Dr Aafia Siddiqui's brother has appealed in US Supreme Court against his sister’s 86-year conviction.

During today's session of the National Assembly, Rehman Malik said the United States did not fulfill the legalities of the case.


He also asserted that the concerned lawyers did not defend the case as it should have been.


Talking about his meeting with Dr Fouzia Siddiqui, the Malik said Dr Aafia's family was not seeking any assistance from the government.


However, he confirmed the family is being provided all kinds of legal and monetary assistance.

Nasir Jamal | 14 years ago | Reply This cases should not have been fought in the courts. Government of Pakistan should have utilized diplomatic channels to bring her back. Now they would take refuge behind courts and say that even President Barack Obama cannot set aside the sentence.
