A government girls primary school was destroyed after unidentified militants planted bombs along the school building in Risaldar area of Charsadda on Sunday.



Sardheri police official Saeed Khan said an unidentified caller informed them of a huge explosion near his house in Risaldar, following which the police rushed to the site. Heavy contingents arrived at the destroyed school.

Saeed explained militants had planted a high intensity bomb in front of one of the classrooms, adding the boundary wall and the verandah were damaged and the school could no longer be used. According to bomb disposal squad officials, 10 kilogrammes of explosives were used in the attack.

The school watchman, who was sleeping in his house nearby when the incident occurred, told the police he was working till evening and had then gone home. The police have registered a case against unidentified militants.
