Muttahida Qaumi Movement candidate Waqar Hussain Shah won from the PS-128 constituency of Malir, defeating Aurangzaib Farooqi of Muttahida Deeni Mahaz after re-polling at six polling stations in the constituency.

According to unofficial results the MQM candidate won by 202 votes. His final tally climbed to 23,827 votes, against Farooqi who secure 23,625 votes.

Despite strict security measures in place at the polling stations, low turn out was reported. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Awami National Party had boycotted the election. Leaders of both MQM and MDM had started sending text messages to the media earlier in the day claiming victory.

Meanwhile, chief Altaf Hussain said his party knows how to deal with gang war criminals and wipe them out, if necessary.

Addressing activists, Altaf urged the law enforcement agencies to take action against criminals in Lyari.
