No FIR: Police officer accused of kidnapping for ransom

An additional district and sessions judge ordered the Operations SSP on Saturday to record the statement of a petitioner seeking registration of a case against eight people including a sub inspector for abducting a youth for ransom.


The petitioner Zeenat Fatima said her son, Talha had received a call on May 27 from Asim Bukhari who had wanted to meet him. She said when her son opened the main door of their house, Asim Bukhari and his accomplices Sultan Ahmad, Abdur Rasheed, Muhammad Shahid, Maratab Ali, Sajjad and Asmat forcibly took him away.


Fatima said Bukhari, called her sister and demanded a Rs20 million ransom.

She said after she had been told that her son was being detained at the Civil Lines police station she had visited the area and met him on May 28. She said, SI Muhammad Afzal, Asim and his accomplices had robbed her of Rs 32,000 and other items she had during her visit to the Civil Lines police station.

SI Afzal had told her to pay the ransom or else her son would be gunned down. She said she took her case to the Defense B SHO but the FIR was not registered. Fatima said her son was still detained at the Civil Lines police station.
