BANNU:

A man was killed while four other people, including a woman, were injured in a shootout between two rival groups over a land dispute in Bannu on Saturday.

Cantonment police official Saadullah Khan said at around 10am rider squad officials reported a shootout was ongoing in Sokari on the outskirts of the city.

“The firing was stopped and the injured were taken to headquarters hospital,” added Khan.

He explained one of the injured, Dilbaz, told the police he and his family members were sitting in their house when Dilayaz, Sadiq, Saeedullah, Waseem and Ghulam Raziq, residents of Bhadur Khel, allegedly barged in.

A heated argument followed and Dilbaz’s cousin, Mudasir, was killed when the men opened fire.

The official added the shootout occurred due to a three-year-old land dispute. “Members from both groups have tried to kill each other in the past,” he said.
