PESHAWAR:
In an attempt to curb unscheduled load-shedding in the province, particularly in Peshawar, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) provincial general secretary Shaukat Ali Yousafzai on Thursday directed the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) chief to take immediate remedial steps.

During a meeting with Pesco chief Tariq Sadozai on Thursday, Yousafzai said no injustice would be tolerated as Khyber-Paktunkhwa (K-P) produces electricity.

Appreciating Pesco’s efforts, Yousafzai maintained these efforts must yield results because power outages negatively affect all aspects of everyday life.

He said despite his constituents paying their electricity bills, linking PK-2 to the Ring Road feeder was unjust.

He asked the Pesco chief to devise a viable strategy to resolve the city’s electricity woes and replace faulty and overloaded transformers with new and powerful ones. Pesco’s complaint centre must also be made more effective, he added.

Sadozai in turn informed the city was facing an electricity shortage due to the destruction of the Sheikh Muhammadi grid station, adding he hoped the situation will improve in the next few days.

Pesco is making a concerted effort to ensure unscheduled load-shedding does not take place and, in the event it does occur, it does not exceed 12 hours anywhere in the province, said the power chief.

Sadozai later constituted a committee to address the complaints of PK-2 residents.
