PESHAWAR:
Taliban militants attacked two houses belonging to suspected criminals in the Jaba area, on the outskirts of Peshawar and set them on fire last night.

Dozens of armed militants attacked the houses around midnight. The attackers were armed with RPG-7 rockets and heavy machine guns. After an hour of intense gun battle, the people inside the houses were forced to flee. Once vacant, the militants burned them down.

“One house was completely destroyed while the other was badly damaged,” said a local police official, adding that owners of both the houses were criminals.

The owners were reportedly cooperating with the area’s Aman Lashker in terms of providing information about the Taliban.

“There were reports that the militants had made a few family members hostage, however it was later proven to be a rumour,” police official added.
