PESHAWAR:

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday directed the capital city police officer (CCPO) to personally supervise investigations into target killing cases, particularly the killing of advocate Malik Jarrar Hussain.

The bench issued the directives while hearing a petition filed by the PHC Bar Association after Hussain was gunned down by unidentified assailants on February 8 while driving his children to school.

On Wednesday, the investigation team said CCTV footage taken from the site of the incident had been sent to the FIA to enable identification of the number plate of a motorcycle spotted where the incident took place.

The police investigation team said investigation into the incident was underway. Upon this, the bench directed CCPO Peshawar to personally supervise the investigation, apprehend the culprits and present them before the court.
