In Rawalpindi: 10 measles patients have died since January
The deaths were reported at the HFH; doctors claim situation under control.
ISLAMABAD:
Ten measles patients out of 640 admitted to allied hospitals of Rawalpindi since January have died so far.
According to a report prepared by the Focal Person for Infectious Diseases, Rawalpindi Medical College (RMC) and allied hospitals, Dr Javed Hayat, out of the total number of 640 cases, 348 patients were registered at the Holy Family Hospital (HFH), 221 at the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) and 71 at the District Headquarters Hospital.
According to the report, the 10 deaths were reported at the HFH.
The report said that currently 25 patients were admitted to the HFH and, out of whom, six were admitted during the last 48 hours.
Similarly, five patients were admitted to the BBH, out of whom, five were admitted during the last 48 hours.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Dr Hayat said that majority of the cases had been reported from Rawalpindi and its adjoining areas. He said that despite the rising number of measles cases, the situation was under control.
