Combating disease : Anti-measles drive to start in Punjab

The health department has decided to launch a measles drive in 12 districts of Punjab from June 13.

In response to the sudden increase in the number of measles cases across Punjab, the health department has decided to launch a measles drive in 12 districts of Punjab from June 13.  This was decided at a meeting held on Sunday presided by Director General Health, Punjab Dr Tanveer Ahmed. Talking to APP after the meeting, a focal person of the department Dr Younas said that the required things were already dispatched to districts Gujranwala, Bhakar, Shaikhupura, Okara, Kasur, Layyah, Rawalpindi, Rahim Yar Khan, Lodhran, DG Khan, Faisalabad and Sargodha. Responding to a question about the rising number of cases of measles, he added that the parents often wait till the problem becomes incurable. He appealed to parents to be prompt in contacting the doctor when they spot broad symptoms of the disease.
