Rehabilitation: Concrete houses handed over to flood victims
Structures built by PRCS consist of two rooms and a kitchen.
The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has handed over ownership of concrete houses to flood victims after they were completed at a cost of Rs100 million, said a press release on Friday.
This was stated by PRCS Chairman Major Gen (retd) Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz Khan while briefing journalists after a visit to areas in District Rahim Yar Khan where he distributed the owner ship certificates to the victims.
The houses consist of two rooms, a kitchen and a toilet for each family.
Nawaz said that these houses have been built keeping in view the cultural and residential needs of the people.
The PRCS chairman said that to cope with issues of flood victims, there was a dire need of collaboration between the government and international donor agencies so that flood survivors get timely support to rehabilitee their livelihoods, homes and communities.
He said that thousands of people in the flood affected areas were still without proper shelter and concrete efforts were needed to be done to rehabilitate them.
Nawaz said that the PRCS, in collaboration with International Federation of Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), other partners and local donors, has also rehabilitated 75,000 flood victims across Pakistan.
